  1. #1776 has been out and about in Sydney, Australia recently.

I'm looking to return the bike back to original condition and need:
    - exhaust
    - number plate holder inc indicators
    - tool kit

Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Also, what happened to the owners list that used to be published on this site?

  2. Greetings, 1776. How appropriate (for us Americans) that you'd post up on the 4th of July. July 4, 1776 is the day the US declared independence from Great Britain.

Anyway.....I'm pretty sure all of the license plate holder parts are still available from Ducati except for the "x-bracket" that bolts to the muffler assembly and holds the rest of the parts. However, David Purcell, a list member in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA makes a machined version of that part that looks every bit as good as the original. You can find reference to David, including contact information, in another thread on this forum. Just search for "x-bracket". I know this because mine disappeared on a cross country trip....but that's another story.

The tool kit should, likewise, be available from Ducati, complete with Owner's Manual.

The exhaust might be a problem. Keep posting here and look out on ebay until you find one. Several owners use aftermarket exhausts, but keep the originals for the sake of sellability. However, an MH is occasionally wadded (blasphemy!), so you might eventually find one being salvaged if you're patient.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

  3. Thanks for your help.

I've got the manual - so I'll try and work out the required parts.
Do you know the best way to buy parts from Ducati? Over the web or via a dealer?

Any idea what happened to the original database of owners that was published on this site?

    Cheers from downunder.

  4. I've always had my best results ordering through a dealer, but your results may vary.

As to a registry, there has never been one on THIS site. I suspect it was part of John's old site. For the record, John's site died along with his hard drive a couple of years ago and Brian DeGroodt started this site on the same domain name, with John's help and consent, as a way to keep the community together. All of the data on the old site was lost.

As the site's current administrator I'd be happy to start a registry for this site, but it'd have to be separate from the forums and the blog. I'd probably just create a /registry page for that information. If there's any sincere interest in such a registry I could start a thread asking for data from owners and I could then transcribe the information gained there to a web page hosted on this domain.

What would you like to see in such a registry? Current owner? Past owners? Status (original.....Carbon Dream body.....salvaged.....racing!....sitting on a coffee table.....ridden.....etc.)? Location?

I'm happy to do just about anything the group is interested in. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.
