x-Bracket Group Buy

(15 posts)
  1. Hello ,
I missed the last run and have contacted David to re-order. Anyone interested???? the more who order the cheaper it is.
Contact David so he can get a count and let us know of pricing.

Remember the stock x-bracket is prone to break , and is no longer available from Ducati, It is one of those defining features of the Mhe we love.

  2. By way of endorsement, I have one of David's brackets and it is VERY well made and quite attractive.

David machines his brackets from billet aluminum, and while it will not be mistaken for the stock bracket (the stocker has a brighter finish and is a little lighter), it is virtually identical in shape and is superior in function. It's also about the same price as the original, which is hard to beat in a custom made, limited run, part. David will also machine your unit number and a logo into the center of the bracket's hub if you like. I didn't go that route, but it's quite attractive should you chose to.

I heartily recommend Mr. Purcell's machined solution to our shared dilemma.

If you want one of these, you should probably get with David soon. He has to order the material and he gets a pretty significant discount for buying multiple billets rather than just one or two. Also, machine setup is substantial for a single piece. Making multiples is more efficient for him and less costly for you!

I second that remark. I got one too last year.Got my bike number ingraved(just a finishising touch). Top quality piece that wont snap. And if your original X bracket is still good(i was lucky) you can put it away into storage in case you need to put it back on one day for that original feature...well well worth the money, good comms with the seller and posted and packaged very well, even for us over the pond...

Perhaps David could also make the number plate holding piece that attaches onto the bracket, cause when your bracket brakes, and it usually does while you re on the road and hammering, the whole number plate assembly, including the blinkers, fly off into the sunset. That s how I lost mine, anyway. Admitetedly it s not a beautiful piece like the x bracket and you can still order it at Ducati, but its pricy to say the least. The whole number plate assembly costs a fortune(just over the 1K mark, I think)...perhaps it would be too much to ask David for such a shity piece...any unfortunate ones like me outh there? Any ideas?

  14. As you said, the piece is still available from Ducati, though it is expensive. If there's any interest, I could investigate having a batch cut by laser from 3000 series aluminum (bendable) as we have the equipment to bend sheet metal at our shop. I could figure up an approximate price, anyway.

Give me a few days. I happen to have a brand new one of these lying around, as I experienced the same failure you did.

Hey Cloner! Thanks for the prompt response! Yes please let me know! Thanks
BY the way, forgot to endorse David s craftmanship: I got the last bracket in that first batch: it took him about 3 months to send it cause he had other more important things going and I wanted it engraved and anodized, but I have nothing but praise for the guy...as for the rest of the lost items, I bought two new blinkers from Ducati which were reasonably priced...but I am still missing that other bit!For those that weren t as misfortunate as us one word of advice: the original X bracket sucks, yes, but I believe what makes it brake even quicker is that heavy black metal piece with reflectors on its side that attaches to the aluminum bit!
