Site appearance and features

(3 posts)
  1. Well....I promised I'd start a spot for you guys to complain about the appearance and features of this site, so here's my first attempt at it. For now I'm just going to put this topic in the General Forum and make it a sticky so nobody (including me) will have to look far to find it.

You'll notice a few things have already changed a little.

First, I've modified the theme of the site to try to make things a little more pleasing to the eye. I'll continue monkeying with this over time, but for now you should feel free to make comments (wise or otherwise) about how I can make the site work better for you.

I intend to "fix" the links at the upper right to point to things of relevance, like Ducati's website, for instance, when I figure out how. I might try to establish one of them to point to an archive if I can figure out where data from the old site is warehoused and how it can be conveniently viewed.

I've added a "search" feature for your use. Just put in a key word or phrase and it'll search the existing Forum's database and let you know if we've discussed it here before. You may, of course, still use "Hot Tags" to quickly find topics of interest if you like. I've considered removing the "Hot Tags" area to use the real estate for something more functional, but I haven't decided. If you have thoughts, please post them up!

I'm also trying to figure out how to move things around on the page. For instance, I'd like to put the Forum headers at the top and move the recent topics to the bottom of the page.

I've added a topic called "So You Wanna Buy an MH900e?" It seems that lots of the members and browsers here were attracted because they want to learn something about MHs and their particular quirks and demands. This topic will be used as a quick resource to let prospective buyers (who are a significant prportion of the traffic here) know what to look for during their purchase experience, and what to expect once they've bought one of Pierre's Masterpieces. I'll start a thread there with some general information. All of you who know about MHs are welcome to add as you see fit. The worst that'll happen is that I'll combind your information together into a bodacious FAQ at some point in the future. 8) We might use this area to discuss vendors, too, as that's a common topic among prospective buyers, new owners, and veteran owners, alike.

Finally, if there are Forums you feel should be added to the list all you have to do is ask. It's easy to add them, and just as easy to delete them if they're underused. It's your forum, so sing out!

i agree,my only suggestion is; iv'e always found that posting pictures does not work.. Maybe an easier way can be done???? apart from that everything else is good... maybe confirmed owners can be listed as owners and have their bike number put under their name (like mine).. some have and some dont. Also it would be good to have the country they are from for all to see. as you dont know if a member is in USA-Australia- or UK /europe...not every member puts that info down on their details... thanks guys
